The SCREW LOCKER, SHORT FUSE toolbox initially consisted only of cardboard cards that showed nothing but the plain text of the individual tools. From there it was a small step to exhibit a real toolbox with ladder, garden shears, straitjacket, plastic dinos and all other tools.
The goal of the exhibition is to make the metaphorical tools tangible as objects. Together with the texts, both levels of meaning of the tools thus come into conjunction, helping to explore the various thematic fields quite directly.
In the exhibition, the tools are thus directly on site to be touched and applied to the various themes. The touring exhibition has so far been shown in the exhibition spaces of the IG Metall district Berlin-Brandenburg-Saxony as well as in the library of the University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf. In addition, there has been a permanent exhibition in the main building of the TU Berlin since June 2019.
If the exhibition meets your interest and you have a little space, then the exhibition will be happy to stop by and support you in the dismantling of technology and society. Due to its modular character, it is easy to develop further tools and to open up thematic fields, so that the framework conditions can be taken up on site. At the same time, many tools can also be found in public space, so that the exhibition can have an effect beyond the exhibition site.
We would be happy to develop new tools with you, open up a new field of application together, or create a stand-alone exhibition that explores the possibilities of its location. Feel free to contact us - info@screw-loose.org
The premiere of the traveling exhibition took place in the exhibition space of the IG Metall Berlin-Brandenburg-Saxony district office at Halleschen Tor in Berlin. From December 2018 to February 2019, the tools could be touched for the first time and the first topics could be explored. The exhibition was shown there in cooperation with the student project of the IG Metall district.
The second station of the traveling exhibition was the reading room of the library of the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences. Directly at the entrance, hundreds of visitors were greeted every day by the plastic dinosaurs, and on their way to the bookshelves and workstations they inevitably had to pass all the other tools. This exhibition space was made accessible through the cooperation of the Blue Engineering university groups from Berlin and Düsseldorf.
Since summer 2019, Technische Universität Berlin has been showing the Energy in Motion exhibition. The exhibition highlights five central aspects of energy and communicates them in an easy-to-understand way. It also presents the TU Berlin's current research on the topic of energy. The RAD AB, SCHRAUBE LOCKER exhibition is also included and helps to dismantle the relationship between energy and society through the toolbox.
